A motorist driving a Honda Civic struck and seriously injured a man on a scooter at 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Hamilton Mountain.

The man was hit while riding northbound on Upper Kenilworth Avenue near Landron Avenue and taken to hospital by paramedics.

The driver of the car, who is 20, pulled over after the collision and called 911, according to a Hamilton police news release.

In a tweet Saturday morning, police said the identity of the victim was still unknown. An update just after 1:30 p.m. confirmed police identified the man, but did not provide a name.

The victim was described in the initial tweet as “male, white, 5’7”-5’9” tall, 160-170 lbs” who was wearing a white bandana, and that he had been riding a black Gyrocopters electric kick scooter with red detailing.

Police said that “given the severity of injuries,” their collision reconstruction unit is investigating the incident.
